Finally the chance to sit down and start this blog, after all the disruption of moving house recently. Over the next few weeks I’ll be explaining the concept of mindfulplay and telling the story behind it. First up, a quick introduction to the concept.
What is mindfulplay?
Mindfulplay is about experiencing the pure joy of living in the moment, something which meditation also promises. However, unlike meditation, play doesn’t require practise and skill. We are all born with the biological ability to play. So you do not have to learn how to do it, you just have to remember. Plus it’s easy because it’s fun!
What will happen at a mindfulplay session?
You will leave your worries at the door and just focus on you, forgetting about the outside world for a couple of hours. Think of it as a chance to give yourself a mental tune-up, leaving you feeling refreshed and revitalised.
There will be a combination of both traditional and new variations of playground and theatre games, as well a number of art and crafting activities, including hand and feet painting, collage and mask making, clay, plasticine and play-dough modelling and colouring. We are also planning to invite guests to run some workshops – this could be anything from theatre improv to various arts and crafts, music and more.
